The press room -- Room 303 of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street, -- will be equipped with computers, telephones, modem lines, internet capabilities as well as copy and fax services. Credentials can be picked up from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 21 and daily during the meeting from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. except Thursday, August 26 when the press room will operate only from 8 a.m. until noon. Media may register in advance. At registration pickup, credentials and a press kit will be available. Abstracts are available in hard copy or CD-ROM.

A schedule of press briefings will be available at registration.

The American Chemical Society is the world's largest scientific society with more than 159,000 members nationally and internationally. Membership is comprised of chemists and chemical engineers. The ACS's 229th annual meeting will be March 13-17 in San Diego, CA.

News releases from the meeting will be available on an embargoed basis approximately one week before the meeting on EurekAlert at www.eurekalert.com and other science news websites. The ACS web site -- www.chemistry.org/news --will post the releases once the embargo is lifted.
