Call for nominations: ASM public communications award

The American Society for Microbiology is now accepting nominations for the 2000 ASM Public Communications Award. The award, now in its fifth year, recognizes outstanding achievement by journalists in the communication of the microbiological sciences to the general public through the print and broadcast media.

The recipient will receive $2,500, a plaque and travel expenses to the 2000 ASM General Meeting (May 21-25 in Los Angeles) for presentation of the award.

Stories (both individual and in a series) concerning the microbiological sciences appearing in print or broadcast media available to the general public are eligible for nomination. For the 2000 award, materials must be published or aired in calendar year 1999. Materials may be submitted by authors as well as colleagues and editors.
