Nobel Laureate David Baltimore To Speak To NYU Undergrads

EVENT: 1999 Irving H. Jurow Lecture of New York University's College of Arts and Science

SPEAKER: Dr. David Baltimore, President, California Institute of Technology

TIME: 4:30 PM, Wednesday, April 21, 1999

PLACE: NYU Hemmerdinger Hall 100 Washington Square East, First Floor

DESCRIPTION: Dr. David Baltimore will deliver the 3rd Annual Jurow Lecture. His talk will be on "Understanding and Manipulating Life." In addition to his work in virology, for which he won the Nobel Prize, Dr. Baltimore has been at the center of national policy-making on issues such as AIDS and recombinant DNA research.

The Jurow Lecture was endowed by NYU alumnus Irving H. Jurow to bring a leading intellectual or cultural leader to NYU's undergraduate community. The inaugural lecture was given by Stephen Jay Gould. Last year's lecture was given by David Halberstam.
