Nominations now being accepted for a major award in cancer prevention research

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation (CRPF) announce that nominations are now being accepted for a major international Award in recognition of outstanding cancer prevention research. The second annual AACRCancer Research and Prevention Foundation Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research will be given to a scientist residing in any country in the world for seminal contributions in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological, or behavioral science investigations in cancer prevention research that have had a major impact on the field and stimulated new directions in this important field.

Details about the Award and the online nomination process are located on the AACR Website at www.aacr.org. Nominations are now being accepted by the AACR; the nomination deadline is Tuesday, July 1, 2003.

The winner of the Award will present a major lecture during the second annual International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, the premier annual international meeting on cancer prevention research, which will be held October 26-30, 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A. The awardee will receive an honorarium of $5,000 (U.S.) and a commemorative plaque, as well as support for travel and subsistence expenses to attend the meeting.

The AACRCancer Research and Prevention Foundation Award in Cancer Prevention Research is open to all cancer researchers who are affiliated with any research institution anywhere in the world. Candidates will be considered on the basis of their seminal contributions to cancer prevention research and the impact of these discoveries on advancing the field. Candidates must currently maintain an active research program, have a record of recent publications, and be in a position to present the Award lecture at the meeting.
