Society for Conservation Biology 1999 Annual Meeting: Integrating Policy and Science in Conservation Biology
University of Maryland, College Park

Hosted by the University of Maryland's graduate program in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology and by the Smithsonian Institution's Institute for Conservation Biology, the 1999 SCB meeting takes advantage of the proximity of the major NGOs, multinational banks, and federal agencies that set most of the policy underlying conservation efforts worldwide. The meeting includes a scheduled welcome by Vice President Al Gore and sessions ranging from "Regional-Scale Conservation Planning" to "Biodiversity Conservation and Foreign Policy."
