Perhaps no questions raised by modern biology are more challenging for policymakers than those surrounding stem cells and cloning. In the third session of the series "The New Biology: Challenges and Opportunities," international experts from the Whitehead Institute will explore the science behind the headlines.

Dr. Rudolf Jaenisch, an expert in mouse cloning, and Dr. George Daley, a leading physician-scientist and stem cell researcher, will share their perspectives on the new biology. The moderator will be Dr. David Page, a pioneer in human genetics and chairman of the Whitehead Task Force on Genetics and Public Policy.

This program is the third in a series of five lectures over the course of 2001, which will bring internationally recognized leaders in science, medicine, law, and biotechnology to Washington, D.C. for informal discussions with decision makers from Federal agencies, the Judiciary, Congress, and other segments of the diverse policy community in Washington, D.C. These discussions will lead to a deeper understanding of how today's changes in science will affect our lives and those of future generations.
