Colwell's talk is titled "Obstinate Issues, Sophisticated Solutions: Environmental Science and Education for a New Age." She will speak of a new age of scientific exploration, one that will give us a deeper understanding of our planet and allow us to improve the quality of people's lives worldwide. In the past two decades, knowledge has exploded, and the pace of science and technology has accelerated with it. Science and technology can help us find a way through and beyond our current circumstances, Colwell believes. She will speak about emerging frontiers in research that are important to our environmental future, and how we can realize the promise they hold: make a fresh and vigorous commitment to environmental education.
