WHAT: The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists 37th Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer is the preeminent educational and scientific event for physicians and health care professionals involved in the field of gynecologic oncology. In addition to the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO) large member base, this important meeting attracts medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists and gynecologic nurse oncologists from all over the country.

Attendees present and discuss the latest research findings in the field of gynecologic oncology that help to inform practice and care. More than 400 studies will be presented at the meeting -- all abstracts being presented at the meeting can be viewed online at www.sgo.org. All studies are embargoed until the day and time they are presented. Here are a few highlights:

EMBARGOED FOR RELEASE UNTIL 8:00 a.m., PST, Friday, March 24, 2006

  • In one of the first trials to combine a biologic agent with a conventional chemotherapy agent for the treatment of ovarian cancer, researchers found a significant increase in the response to therapy and the duration of progression free survival without additional toxicity.
