Media alert A look forward and a look back: 50 years of cr...( A special Golden Anniversary Symposium ...)

The day-long symposium that begins at 8am will showcase the pioneering work of crop science over the last 50 years coupled with the challenges and opportunities that face this science in the next half-century. The CSSA Golden Anniversary Symposium includes these presentations:

• "Improving Lives: 50 Years of Crop Breeding, Genetics, and Cytology"
• "Genetic Tools from Nature and the Nature of Genetic Tools"
• "A Top Ten List of Developments and Issues Impacting Crop Management and Ecology Over the Past 50 Years"
• "50 Years of Splendor in the Grass"
• "50 Years of Grassland Science Leading to Change"

Following the symposium, M.S. Swaminathan of World Food Prize and Green Revolution fame will present the Betty Klepper Endowed Lectureship at 3:45pm, also in Grand Ballroom Salon EF of the Marriott Downtown. The CSSA Meeting, "50 Years of Crop Science, 1955-2005: From the Green to the Ever-Green Revolution," will be held as part of the Annual Meetings of the American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America, Nov. 6-10, 2005 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Over 2,500 research papers will be presented by 3,000 attendees from all over the world.
