A new Institute of Medicine and National Research Council committee that will periodically update these guidelines is holding a symposium to explore developments in the field. Among the issues to be discussed are procurement of human eggs, alternatives for deriving embryonic stem cells, and implementation of the guidelines at various research institutions.
