New Naval S&T Strategy to be detailed at partnership conference

Arlington, VA -- The recently approved Naval Science and Technology Strategic Plan and its thirteen science and technology (S&T) focus areas will be among the items discussed at the 8th annual Naval S&T Partnership Conference to be held starting on July 30th in Washington, D. C.

Rear Admiral William Landay III, the Chief of Naval Research, will discuss the strategy and preside over the four-day event, designed to enhance interaction between Naval S&T, the business community and academia. Each of the thirteen S&T focus areas identified in the strategy will also be discussed, and attendees will be provided ample opportunity in both formal and informal settings to meet with leadership from the Office of Naval Research and discuss potential opportunities.

In addition, RADM Landay has announced a $1 million CNR Challenge for innovative science and technology ideas brought to ONR during the conference. The CNR Challenge gives registered conference attendees the opportunity to schedule face-to-face meetings with decision-makers from ONR to ask specific questions about naval science and technology or to present new and innovative concepts and technologies. Marketplace participants must submit an abstract in advance. More information about the submission of abstracts for the CNR Challenge can be found at this website.

This years conference, which will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, from July 30th through August 2nd, will feature The Honorable Delores M. Etter, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, who will offer a keynote address at 1:00PM on Monday, July 30.

Jacques S. Gansler, Ph.D., Professor and Roger C. Lipitz Chair and Director, Center for Public Policy & Private Enterprise, School of Public Policy, University of Maryland, will offer remarks on the topic The Role of Industry and Academia in Naval S&T and Transition at lunch on Tuesday, July 31st.
