Parkinson's disease clinical researchers invited to submit study information to new patient website

Clinical researchers seeking patient volunteers within the U.S. are invited to submit information about their clinical trial to a new patient website dedicated to Parkinson's clinical trials.

The website, www.PDtrials.org is a free information service designed to improve access to information on Parkinson's clinical trials by providing a tool for patients and physicians to identify trials that are actively seeking patients. The site will also help to educate patient communities on the value of clinical research.

The concept of the website grew from a public awareness initiative known as Advancing Parkinson's Therapies (APT). APT is a novel collaboration between seven leading voluntary patient groups, private foundations, government and industry to accelerate the development of new treatments for Parkinson's by increasing awareness and participation of Parkinson's patients in clinical research.

The site currently lists over 30 Parkinson's clinical studies recruiting patients in the U.S., and includes interventional and observational studies.

Researchers conducting a clinical study in Parkinson's who would like to post information about their study on the website should send a copy of the study protocol and a request for publicity by email to info@PDtrials.org.

The following organizations have pledged to unite to support the effort: the American Parkinson Disease Association, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, the National Parkinson Foundation, the Parkinson's Action Network, the Parkinson Alliance and WE MOVE. The coalition is being coordinated and staffed by the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
