Scientist Andrew Maynard to testify on nanotechnology research needs

WASHINGTON "Nanotechnology risk research isn't rocket science," according to Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies chief scientist Andrew Maynard. Dr. Maynard's remarks in his Thursday, January 4th testimony before the federal government's first public meeting will focus exclusively on research needs and priorities for the environmental, health, and safety risks of engineered nanoscale materials. In his presentation, Maynard calls on the federal government to take action in three critical areas, including the development of a strategic risk research plan and the allocation of more nanotechnology risk research funds, particularly for those U.S. agencies responsible for oversight. Maynard's testimony will be available online on January 3rd at www.nanotechproject.org.
