Springer launches new journal, Cognitive Neurodynamics

A new journal in the biomedical sciences, Cognitive Neurodynamics, will be launched by Springer in 2007. With this new addition to the publishing program, Springer will provide a journal that bridges the gap between theoretical and applied neurosciences without preference for pure conceptual, mathematical or computational models.

Cognition in its essence is dynamic and multilayered, and the pursuit of new clues inevitably leads from one layer to the next, both reductionist and holistic. Cognitive Neurodynamics will promote the integration of cognitive science and neurodynamics as a whole and provide a forum for scientists and engineers working in this area. The new quarterly journal will publish the latest research, exchange of ideas and problem-based discussions, focusing on the overlapping fields of cognitive science and nonlinear dynamics. It will also cover other related areas in neuroscience, mathematics, physics, computer science, informatics, and intelligent robotics.

The peer-reviewed journal will be international and interdisciplinary in scope. Professor Rubin Wang of the East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai has been appointed Editor-in-Chief, with Professor Fanji Gu of Fudan University in Shanghai as Managing Editor.

Peter Butler, Editorial Director for Life Sciences at Springer, said, Up to now, papers related to cognitive neurodynamics have been widely scattered across a variety of different journals, with no single journal solely dedicated to this important topic. Cognitive Neurodynamics now fills this need.

Cognitive Neurodynamics will be available online as well as in print. All articles will be published online via Online First before they appear in print, thereby ensuring the most rapid dissemination possible of research results. The Springer Open Choice program offers all potential Cognitive Neurodynamics authors the option of publishing their articles using the open access publishing mo
