Artificial liver moves toward commercialization

trients and removal of wastes. Researchers have developed a pulsating, pinch-flow hollow-fiber bioreactor, which they believe will significantly limit clogging and speed transport of materials. They are also exploring the use of a special polymer, chitosan, to improve performance of the company's patented human cell line contained within the bioreactor. (M-H.
