"Addressing major knowledge gaps would allow us to be better prepared in the future." Among the areas where further research is needed: the relationship of weather to influenza and other causes of winter mortality; the linkages between climate, altered ecology, and infectious disease transmission; and the impacts of land use and agriculture on water quality.
