National Academies advisory: Meeting on therapeutic vaccines

National Academy of Sciences
April 1-3

Medical research is increasingly trying to broaden the definition and mission of vaccines, seeking to develop not only substances that can prevent illness but also vaccines to treat those already suffering from AIDS, hepatitis, and other diseases. This meeting, part of the National Academy of Sciences' Arthur M. Sackler colloquium series, will bring together medical researchers, immunologists, biologists, and cancer specialists to discuss developments in the field.

ANTHONY FAUCI, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will deliver the KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT 6 P.M. ON APRIL 1.

The meeting will be held April 1-3 in the auditorium of the National Academy of Sciences building at 2100 C St., N.W., Washington, D.C. The lecture is free and open to the public, but a photo I.D. is required to enter the building. For a program and registration visit http://www4.nationalacademies.org/nas/nashome.nsf
