hat may contribute to ovarian cancer, Viqar Syed and Shuk-Mei Ho, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and their coworkers investigated the interleukin-6 (IL-6) and STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription-3) signaling pathway in the presence of hormones. They found that increased expression of the IL-6 receptor and activation of STAT3 were associated with proliferation of an ovarian cancer cell line.
