The future of research into Parkinsons disease and tissue banking

Leading scientists from across the world will join academics and researchers from Imperial College London to discuss the future of research into Parkinsons disease and tissue banking.

On Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 July a satellite meeting of the 7th European Congress of Neuropathology will be held at Charing Cross Hospital. This will be a two-day conference looking at Parkinsons disease and tissue banking. As part of this there will be round table discussions on Emerging Concepts in Parkinson's Disease Research and The future of tissue banking for research in a 'century of the brain'.

Journalists are invited to attend both the conference itself and the round table discussions.

Emerging Concepts in Parkinson's Disease Research will look at the history of Parkinson's, traditional diagnosis and treatment, and new discoveries. The round table discussion will provide an update on the latest research into Parkinson's, and new treatment methods, including the decoding of the human genome.

The future of tissue banking for research in a 'century of the brain' will discuss the traditional methods involved in tissue banking, and how recent developments can benefit research in this area. There will also be a discussion of the complicated issues for tissue banking, such as the recent problems at Alder Hay.
