Astellas Pharma recipient of American Urological Association Health Science Award

ATLANTA, MAY 16, 2006 The American Urological Association is pleased to announce that Astellas Pharma US, Inc. (formerly Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) is the recipient of this year's AUA Health Science Award. The award will be given at the Annual Awards Banquet during the 101st Annual Scientific Meeting of the AUA in Atlanta later this month.

The AUA Health Science Award is given each year to recognize one company that has continually exemplified the AUA's mission to promote the highest standards of urological clinical care through education (including continuing medical education, or CME), research and in the formulation of health care policy. It is only with the patronage of companies such as Astellas that the AUA can succeed in attaining its goals and helping the urologic community. Astellas has also been instrumental in supporting the "Rising Star in Urology Research Awards" program. The recipient of the award is selected by the AUA Awards Committee.

"Astellas, has shown continued interest in AUA education and research initiatives," said AUA Associate Executive Director of Development and Publications Kevin Wohlfort. "With the support of such a committed organization, the AUA has been able to fulfill its mission, and take urologic care to the next level."

"We at Astellas are committed to making a difference in urology and appreciate the opportunity to partner with the American Urology Association to achieve this goal, said Yoshihiko Hatanaka, President and CEO of Astellas Pharma US, Inc." Astellas is honored to receive AUA's recognition of our efforts and look forward to continuing our partnership to further the study and practice of urology."
