BioMed Central's Deborah Saltman awarded the Rose-Hunt Award

Deborah Saltman, Editorial Director (Medicine) for BioMed Central, has been awarded the Rose - Hunt Award, the most prestigious accolade of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Presenting the award at the RACGP Annual Scientific Convention in Brisbane this month, RACGP President Professor Michael Kidd congratulated Dr Saltman and thanked her for her outstanding service to the college, to general practice and to the Australian community.

The Rose-Hunt Award is a medal named in honour of two of the founding members of the Royal College of General Practitioners in the United Kingdom, Dr Fraser Rose and Dr John Hunt, and is a gift to the RACGP from the UK college. The award is a gift made to any Fellow or Member of the RACGP who, in the opinion of the Council, has rendered outstanding service in the promotion of the aims and objectives of the College.

Dr Saltman has a distinguished record of clinical, academic and publishing excellence. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and a Foundation Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine in the Royal Australian College of Physicians. She has served on the Editorial Boards of BMC Family Practice, BMC Medical Education, Postgraduate Medical Journal, BMJ Clinical Evidence, Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practice and was an Assistant Editor for The Medical Journal of Australia. She is also an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney.

As Editorial Director (Medicine) for BioMed Central, Dr Saltman is responsible for all editorial aspects of BioMed Central's medical publishing activity.
