Dobbs to give plenary keynote at Drug Information Association conference in Philadelphia, Sept. 26

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Dr. Joel H. Dobbs, Executive-in-Residence and Program Director, Pharmaceutical Management, at Stevens Institute of Technology's Howe School, will deliver the plenary keynote address, "Four Questions about Pharma's Future (and Yours)," Tues., Sept. 26, at the Drug Information Association Conference, located at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center, Philadelphia, Penn. (Please visit http://www.diahome.org/DIAHome/Home.aspx)

The conference brings together four groups: drug-development project management professionals, experts in outsourcing, clinical data managers and regulatory professionals who deal with global electronic product labeling. The goal of the plenary session is to address the challenges and opportunities facing the global biopharmaceutical industry and its people.

"To say that the pharmaceutical industry is going through a period of both challenge and change is, at best, a gross understatement," said Dobbs. "This industry, once a safe haven for investors and a stable and safe place to work, has suddenly become susceptible to a torrent of forces that are changing it in ways many of us might never have imagined only a few years ago. Pharmaceutical stocks that once led the S&P 500 in growth and stability now trail the pack. Between 1989 and 2005 twenty three well-known names in the industry merged into just eight mega companies and a new generation of small, innovative companies have emerged from the rubble of these mergers. Amid all of this, partnerships, licensing agreements and strategic alliances abound. This is a challenging time that requires leadership at all levels."
