Integrative Cancer Therapies (ICT) published by SAGE Publications, has been accepted by Thomson Scientific (formerly ISI), for inclusion in the Science Citation Index ExpandedTM (see http://scientific.thomson.com/products/scie). ICT features articles and studies focusing on evidence - and science-based understanding of the mechanisms of integrative cancer treatments, which combines the best conventional cancer therapies with complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
"Inclusion in ISI is a powerful sign that ICT is becoming an important player in the world of scientific information resources," said Editor-in-Chief Keith I. Block, MD. Dr. Block is also Medical and Scientific Director of the Block Center for Integrative Cancer Treatment in Evanston, IL.
ICT will receive its first official Impact Factor in the 2008 Journal Citation Reports, which comes out in summer 2009.
The Impact Factor is a measurement of a journal's influence in the scientific publishing community based on the number of times a journal's articles are cited.
"Our authors made this possible and we anticipate many more influential articles and insights in the area of evidenced-based scientific inquiry of integrative cancer therapies," Dr. Block said.
In fact, the journal has generated a significant amount of media attention. Findings reported in the article "Diagnostic Accuracy of Canine Scent Detection in Early and Late Stage Lung and Breast Cancers" published in the March 2006 issue were featured on NBC's Today Show, CNN's Paula Zahn Now, The New York Times, National Geographic, CBS News Online, New Scientist, and the Toronto Star.
The September issue features many interesting and innovative articles including:
"Potential Attenuation of Disease Progression in Recurrent Prostate Cancer With Plant-Based Diet"
"Tai Chi Chuan: Mind-Body Prac
