NEW YORK CITY -- L'Oral is now accepting applications from researchers for its 2007 Fellowships for Women in Science. The fellowship program awards grants of $40,000 to five researchers each year who are pursuing careers in science, math, engineering, and computer sciences. The selection is based on the research projects they propose and eligibility according to stringent criteria.

Now in its fourth year, the L'ORAL USA Fellowships for Women in Science program has already recognized 15 women in the United States. A jury of eight scientists, led by Ralph J. Cicerone, president of the National Academy of Sciences, selects the fellows.

"To continue to succeed in science and technology, our nation must nurture the potential of all the bright young minds at work in all fields of science," said Dr. Cicerone. L'Oreal's USA Fellowships offer support for some extraordinary talents and will help women entering science to continue and advance."

This fellowship is open to women post doctoral researchers who are either American-born, naturalized citizens or permanent residents living in the United States. Applications for the 2007 fellowships must be submitted by October 31, 2006.
