Last call for Annual World of Children award nominations

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
  • Established in 1998, World of Children, Inc., was created to honor and recognize outstanding individuals who have had a profoundly positive effect on the well-being of children across the globe. World of Children, Inc. has become the most prestigious global award program promoting child advocacy. Their mission is to honor, illuminate and inspire on behalf of children.

    AWARD DETAILS:
    Deadline for Submissions: APRIL 25, 2005.

  • $100,000 Kellogg's Child Development Award, underwritten by founding sponsor Kellogg Company, acknowledges an individual who has made a significant lifetime contribution to improving children's opportunities to learn and grow.
  • $100,000 Cardinal Health Children's Care Award, underwritten by Cardinal Health, recognizes an individual who has made a significant lifetime contribution to the health and well-being of children.
  • $15,000 Founder's Award, underwritten by donations to World of Children Inc., recognizes a young person who has made an extraordinary contribution to children.

    2004 RECIPIENTS:

  • Gopa Kothari, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, created the Child Eye Care Charitable Trust, and has protected more than 68,000 children from blindness and trained more than 1.3 million women in nutrition and education to increase their children's well-being.
  • Jeremiah J. Lowney, Jr., DDS, MS, MPH, Connecticut, USA, established The Haitian Health Foundation, and has provided medical services and community development assistance to more than 200,000 people in rural villages and slums in Haiti. He also sends 1,500 children to schools annually.
  • Rona Martin, Harare, Zimbabwe, Africa has played a major role in developing and running programs for dying and bereaved children at Island Hospice and Bereavement Service, Africa's first hospice.
