Studies shows device-guided paced breathing lowers blood pressure & peripheral resistance

on. The study is a randomized controlled study of non-insulin dependent diabetics with uncontrolled systolic blood pressure. The interim analysis of 60 patients demonstrates a significant difference in systolic BP change between the treatment and control groups (-9.5 1.9 vs. +2.1 2.4 mmHg, p=0.0002). Reduction of pulse pressure was significantly higher in the treatment group compared to control (V5.9 vs. +3.6 mmHg, p=0.0007). Greater systolic BP reduction was found to be significantly correlated with the total time spent in slow breathing guided by the device (p=0.01) and no side effects were observed. Diastolic BP, initially controlled in both groups, was further decreased.
